Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services (BHRS)

The BHRS model focuses on skill development to support emotional and behavioral issues for children birth to 21 years of age through a child-centered, strengths based approach. Services are provided in the home, school, and/ or community settings as deemed necessary by the child’s treatment team. There are three levels of services offered within BHRS; Behavioral Specialist Consultant (BSC), Mobile Therapist (MT), and Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS).

  • Increased functional communication, social, and play skills
  • Decreased behaviors interfering with participation in daily activities at home, school, or in the community
  • Generalized skills learned through structured therapy to apply into the natural environment

Program Highlights:

  • Treatment is designed to meet each child’s individual need
  • Your child’s treatment team will consist of highly trained, compassionate clinicians dedicated to ensuring your child progresses to their ultimate potential
  • Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) are utilized throughout treatment; data collection,  baseline/ follow up measures, researched based interventions
  • All goals are child centered and family focused in order to target meaningful improvements
  • Every child serviced regardless of diagnosis has the option to receive a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) as part of the intake process, which will guide the development of the treatment plan.

  • Each BHRS consumer is assigned a lead clinician as prescribed within the most recent Best Practice Psychological Evaluation
  • Initial treatment plans are developed by the lead clinician with input from the consumer, family and other members of the treatment team
  • Members of the treatment team may include a BSC, MT and/ or a TSS
    • BSC- A Master’s Level clinician responsible for the clinical oversight of the child.  The BSC is expected to develop the treatment plan and fulfill the consultative role of the treatment team.
    • MT- A Master’s Level clinician responsible for the provision of individual and family therapy sessions as needed by the child.  The MT may develop the treatment plan if a BSC is not assigned to the child.
    • TSS- A Bachelor Level clinician (Associate’s level in cases where the individual has three years of direct experience with children) responsible for providing one to one treatment intervention to children in the home, school or community setting.  Treatment interventions are provided to the TSS from the BSC developed treatment plan.
  • Individualized treatment is provided through one on one therapy sessions in the home, school or community setting fulfilling the prescription in the child’s most recent psychological evaluation
  • Therapy sessions target the goals and objectives outlined in the child’s treatment plan
  • Children typically receive a psychological re-evaluation every six months to determine the course of BHRS and adjust any treatment needs
